Terms of Service
Effective date: April 3, 2026
1. Service Overview
On The Dot Notary provides mobile notary public services in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota area. We travel to the client's location to perform notarizations on legal documents as permitted under South Dakota state law.
2. Booking and Appointments
Appointment requests submitted through our website or by phone are requests only, not confirmed bookings. An appointment is confirmed only after we respond with a confirmation. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your requested date, time, and location.
3. Client Responsibilities
Signers must have their documents ready and unsigned prior to the appointment. Do not sign any documents before the notary arrives. All parties to the signing must be present.
All signers must present a current, unexpired, government-issued photo ID. Acceptable forms include a state driver's license, state ID card, or valid U.S. passport. The name on the ID must match the name on the document(s) being notarized.
4. Cancellations and No-Shows
Appointments may be cancelled at no charge with 12 or more hours' notice. Cancellations made less than 12 hours in advance, no-shows, or when the signer or ID is unavailable are subject to the full package fee.
No-shows or appointments where the signer or required ID is unavailable are subject to the full package fee.
5. Payment Terms
Payment is due at the time of service. We accept cash, PayPal, Venmo, and business checks (made out to On The Dot Notary). Personal checks are not accepted.
Mobile travel within Sioux Falls city limits is included in all service packages. Travel beyond city limits is billed at $2.00 per mile (round trip).
Each service package includes up to 2 notarizations. Additional notarizations are $20 each.
6. Refunds
If a notarization cannot be completed due to issues outside the notary's control (e.g., missing ID, documents not ready, signer not present), the full package fee may still apply. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.
7. Service Limitations
A notary is an impartial witness -- we can verify identity and notarize signatures, but we cannot provide legal advice, draft documents, or explain their contents. The notary may refuse to notarize if there is reason to believe the signer is unwilling, unaware, or being coerced.
Notarization confirms the identity of the signer and their willingness to sign. It does not validate the truthfulness, accuracy, or legality of the document's contents. For legal questions, consult a licensed attorney.
8. Limitation of Liability
On The Dot Notary performs notarizations in accordance with South Dakota state law. Our liability is limited to the fees charged for the specific notarization service. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or legal effect of any document notarized.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
